An animal refuge in New Jersey has provided a former laboratory monkey a new home after he survived a chaotic truck crash weeks ago.
The incident unfolded at the end of October, when a truck carrying 21 rhesus monkeys crashed in Jasper County, Mississippi , about 75 miles east of Jackson, according to officials.

In the chaos following the crash, several monkeys escaped into the surrounding area, quickly making national headlines.
The monkeys had been housed at a facility associated with the Tulane University National Primate Research Center in Louisiana. The university later clarified that it did not own or transport the monkeys, though the animals were destined for scientific research organizations.
