COLUMBIA — The season of giving has come to Columbia, with an anonymous donor pledging to match donations up to $500,000 for social services organization Love Columbia on Wednesday.

The anonymous donation pledge will match, dollar for dollar, every donation up to $500,000 throughout December.

All contributions will go directly to supporting Love Columbia's daily work to aid people with urgent housing, financial and unemployment challenges.

Love Columbia anticipates serving more than 3,000 households in 2025 alone.

Love co-founder and Executive Director Jane Williams said the pledge will help finance staff payroll, volunteer training and direct strategic financial assistance.

Williams said the anonymous gift is an example of the generosity of the Columbia community.
