The Wood River High School girls varsity basketball team (2-0) matched its victory total from all of last season, posting a hard-fought 38-36 win over Canyon Ridge of Twin Falls on Monday, Nov. 24.
Taylor Heitzman (16 points, 19 rebounds) and Tobie Stilling (10 points, 6 boards) led the Wolverines with strong support from Mylie Smith (5 points), Adena Garrison (4 points, 3 assists) and Kensie Terra (3 points, 3 steals).
Heitzman drilled three 3-pointers in the first quarter and Stilling (6-for-7 free throws) made a four-point play helping Wood River to a 26-21 halftime lead. For the game, the Wolverines committed 28 turnovers, but outrebounded Twin Falls 49-31.
