A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Sunday at 4:54 p.m. for heavy snow until 5:30 p.m. for Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison and Cortland counties.
"At 4:54 p.m., a band of heavy snow was over Otisco, or 12 miles south of Syracuse moving east at 25 MPH," comments the weather service.
Locations impacted by the alert include Cortland, Pompey, Homer, Otisco, Groton, Locke, Genoa, Preble, Moravia and Scott.
The weather service adds, "Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents."
