AIEA, Hawaii (Island News) -- A woman in her 70s has died after she was struck by a driver under the influence of alcohol near Pearlridge Center on Thursday night.

The accident took place on Moanalua Road just above Pearlridge at around 9:23 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4. Police said a 74-year-old woman was crossing Moanalua Road in a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Ualo Street when she was struck by a car.

A 52-year-old woman was driving westbound on Moanalua Road at the time of the collision. Paramedics treated the woman who was hit for multiple life-threatening injuries she sustained from the accident. The woman was then taken to an emergency room in critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries on Friday, Dec. 5.
