HOUSTON — If you fish in Texas, you're going to want to know this. You are not able to use drones to fish in Texas.

That is new guidance from Texas Parks and Wildlife. Agency leaders say they've noticed an increase in questions about whether drones can be used by those fishing in Texas waters, mainly used for deploying bait getting it way out past the coastline because of all the waves and it's difficult to cast out very far.

After getting the questions, Texas Parks and Wildlife officials looked at the Federal Airborne Hunting Act (AHA) , which dates back to 1956, and talked to federal officials. That led to discussion and eventually determination that the act bans aircraft, including drones, in fishing.
