OMAHA, Neb. (KTIV) - U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts, of Nebraska, has introduced legislation to combat loneliness in America.
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, Ricketts told members of the media that, for most Americans, the holiday season is a time for families to get together and spend time with one another.
But for some, they are spread apart.
He says no Nebraskan should feel alone.
Yet, Ricketts says one-third of Nebraskans report feeling lonely at some point throughout the year.
Ricketts introduced the “Improving Measurements for Loneliness and Isolation Act.”
“This bill would establish a working group that standardizes the measurements of loneliness and isolation. This will allow experts to target the root causes of loneliness,“ said the Republican senator.
