KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — New life is coming to a century-old building in Knoxville.
The YWCA is wrapping up a complete overhaul of its domestic violence shelter and headquarters, and soon more than 70 domestic violence survivors will have a place to call home.
10News got a look inside the revamped building, with new living quarters, bathrooms and more.
CEO Natalie Stair said the upgrades were long overdue, and with affordable housing being hard to find, it's important to have a safe space for people who are escaping dangerous relationships.
The YWCA has been in East Tennessee since 1899. Leaders shared photos from the building past and showed off renovations at a reception this week.
