PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland confirmed that three people found dead over the weekend inside a Southeast Portland home died in a double murder-suicide, correcting early reports that the case was a triple homicide.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau’s homicide unit now believe that a 22-year-old man killed his 46-year-old mother and 10-year-old sister before taking his own life.

According to PPB, officers were originally responding to a report of a suicide when they responded to a home on Southeast 64th Avenue just after 5 p.m. Saturday evening.

When they arrived, they found three people dead with apparent gunshot wounds.
