FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — A high-speed rollover crash on Interstate 40 near Flagstaff left two kids hurt overnight, including a 13-year-old driver who troopers say was drunk.

Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, DPS troopers were notified of a wrong-way driver on I-40. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Coconino County sheriff’s deputy saw a wrong-way pickup truck cross the median into the eastbound lanes of I-40 at over 100 miles per hour.

The truck then hit the guardrail before rolling over several times and landing in a tree. Investigators say the impact was so severe that the steering wheel broke off and was ejected 50 feet away from the pickup.

Troopers found two people inside the truck, a 13-year-old driver and an 11-year-old passenger, who were taken to the hospital.
