BAY CITY, MI — A Bay City man has been federally charged with trafficking copious quantities of illicit drugs two months after law enforcement seized stashes valued in the six figures.

A federal grand jury on Nov. 12 indicted 27-year-old Sawyer M. Wackerle on a charge of possessing with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. A conviction of the charges carries a mandatory minimum 10-year prison sentence that can be extended up to life. The felony is also punishable by a fine of up to $10 million.

Wackerle had his initial appearance before U.S. District Magistrate Judge Patricia T. Morris on Thursday, Nov. 20. Wackerle only spoke to answer the judge’s yes-or-no questions. He consented to be held in custody pending trial.
