The Great Lakes water levels continue to fall. Here’s a look at the current levels, and the forecast into next year.

The Great Lakes water levels declining right now is entirely normal. In fall and winter we enter a period where the precipitation melts to less liquid than heavy spring and summer rains. We also are in a time period when evaporation is the highest all year.

The lack of water coming into the Great Lakes now and the evaporation taking a lot of water out combine for a decline of water levels.
