ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - A video released from the Ohio State Highway Patrol led WSAZ to talk with troopers about the dangers of impaired driving.

In just one night, troopers said they saw multiple impaired driving incidents during the Athens Halloween Block Party.

Now, with Thanksgiving travel starting up next week, Lt. Steven Daugherty told us why driving under the influence is so dangerous.

“Driving impaired is extremely dangerous, but then you’re adding in winter weather. Yes, that just adds in the extra element to something that’s already extremely dangerous,” Daugherty said.

The Athens Post will be increase patrols to look for impaired drivers during Thanksgiving.
