BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Hundreds of people packed Government Street on Friday, Nov. 21, for one of Mid City’s most anticipated annual events, the White Light Night.
The festival stretches along the Mid City corridor and highlights dozens of Louisiana artists, vendors, and small businesses. Organizers say the goal is to create a space where the community can connect through art, food, and local culture.
One of those artists is Blake Brodhead of Lafayette, who specializes in handmade pieces carved from cypress, Louisiana’s state tree.
“South Louisiana is a very special place,” Brodhead said.
He describes his work as a way to connect people with the state’s culture and says he enjoys hearing the stories of those who stop by his booth.
