A much-loved mother-of-three was found dead in her boyfriend's bed after taking too many painkillers in a bid to tackle chronic back pain, an inquest heard.

Midwife Amie Barnes, who was on a waiting list for spinal surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, had spent the evening of Monday July 25 at her partner Jack's home in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire. The couple shared a bottle of wine and a takeaway before going up to bed.

The following morning, Jack left early for work and said goodbye to Amie, an inquest into her death was told.

But when he returned, he found her lying face down in bed. When he went to check on he, he realised she was dead, a coroner heard. Amie was 37.
