BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) - All lanes of I-65 are shut down in Bartholomew County in Indiana due to a crash involving a truck carrying military ammunition.
A semi-truck carrying approximately 300 howitzer rounds crashed in the southbound lanes and then caught fire.
An Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team is en route to render the munitions safe.
Compounding that problem, another serious crash happened in the traffic backup caused by the semi-crash.
The interstate will be shut down in both directions for several hours from Exit 64 in Bartholomew County to Exit 55 in Jackson County as crews work to clear the scene.
